Purity in Christ

Have you ever wondered what the big deal about purity is all about?

What does purity mean? you may ask. Dictionary.com says that it is "the condition or quality of being pure; freedom from anything that debases, contaminates, pollutes, etc. Freedom from guilt or evil; innocence".

In today's day in age, purity is looked upon as strange or weird. Those who are told to esteem it may even see it as a burden, or something that sets them apart from the world. But that is exactly how we're supposed to be. We are God's chosen people. (Check out this post: gemgirls.org/post/chosen-to-be-different )

Purity just isn't being physically pure. It's about being mentally, emotional, and physically pure. "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." Philippians 4:8

I'm sure your wondering, "Ok, but how can I do that?" Well, it isn't just a one time event, it's a process. It's part of growing in our spiritual walk with God. You see, we can't make ourselves pure. We can try and try, but we will eventually fail. God is the only one who can give us clean hearts and minds, and it comes as a by-product of a relationship with Him.

"And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart." Ezekiel 36:26 NLT
