Under the Sea

Do you tend to be a jellyfish or a shark?

Hey GEM girls! What a weird question, you may say. What does that question mean? Well, it's simple really. One animal has a backbone and the other doesn't.

In our crazy world today, God needs Christian teens with strong morals. He needs sharks, who have backbones, to stand up for what they believe. Unfortunately, we have too many boneless jellyfish in our church today. Too many people would rather melt into their surroundings and go with the flow than stand up for Jesus.

Now, standing up for God is different than standing up for yourself. I would stand up for myself any time I need to, no questions asked. But when it comes to standing up for God, I'm a bit more shy and hesitant. It can be intimidating to stand up for Jesus, but it doesn't have to be.

Here are some tips to make it easier to stand up for what you believe:

Let everything you do and say be said in love. Don't be timid about what you believe, but also don't be overly pushy to the point where they want nothing to do with your faith. "Do everything in love." 1 Corinthians 16:14. "In your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect..." 1 Peter 3:15

Live out your life the way Christ outlined in the Bible. You don't want to be harsh or rude to someone, and then try give them a Bible study. They will not be attracted to your faith because you aren't practicing what you're preaching. "Do not merely listen to the word, and deceive yourselves. Do what it says." James 1:22.

"My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you." John 15:12

So, GEM girls, are you going to choose to be a jellyfish or a shark? Let me know in the comments! 😊

With love,
