"Whatsoever you have done unto the least of these, you have done it unto me." Matthew 25:40
Hey GEM girls! Have you ever been on a mission trip? My family and I have been on a few, with our most recent one being in Belize. We went to Move, an Adventist missionary training institute. They took us to visit a village near them where we gave out food bags, presented some healthy living presentations, and distributed dental hygiene products. We were blessed by the experience and hope that the people in that village were as well.
In Matthew 25:40, Jesus tells us, "Whatsoever you have done unto the least of these, you have done it unto me." Going on a mission trip to help people in third world countries is great, but sometimes we think that the "least of these" just refers to to poor people who don’t have anything. But the "least of these" are not just starving children in Africa or people on remote islands that have never heard of Jesus. The "least of these" are all around us. Our family and friends who need our prayers are just as important as those who don’t have clothes on their backs or food on their tables. The friendless, the elderly, the alone, the sad, those who might know about Jesus, but don’t love Him, these are all included in the "least of these."
Before Jesus went back to heaven, He told His disciples to go to Jerusalem, then Samaria, then Judea, and finally the world. He wanted them to reach out to those closest to them before they tried to reach the world with the good news of the gospel. That’s what Jesus wants for us too. Those closest to us are those who we need to minister to.
So, keep a look out for someone who looks sad or lonely, and spend some time listening to them. Call someone who you know needs some cheering up. Pray over and over again for your friends and family who don’t love Jesus. Who knows what difference you could make in someone’s life today?
Let me know in the comments what you did! I'll be praying for each and every one of you! 😊💕🙏
