"If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail."- Benjamin Franklin
Hey GEM girls! Have you ever seen a lesson plan? It's basically a plan that teachers use to help them- and their students- stay on track. It shows what the general objective of that course is and what the student should understand when it's all said and done. Just imagine teachers not having a plan of what they were going to teach! It would make their job harder!
One interesting statistic states that 90% of our population does not set goals. Of the 10 percent that do, only 3% actually write their goals down. The people who wrote their goals down were much more likely to accomplish their goals than those who had goals, but didn't write them down. Wow! When we write things down, we're more likely to remember them.
What are some benefits of setting goals?
Helps us to stay on track
Gives us something to work towards (motivation!)
Gives a sense of accomplishment and direction
Helps us to be more organized overall
God wants us to use our time wisely, and setting personal goals can help us to do that. In Philippians 3:13-14, Paul says, "Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."
Paul's motivation in life was to live for God and to reach his most important goal- to live forever with Jesus. That kept him motivated through every circumstance in his life. That should be our overall goal, too!
Are you planning to succeed this year?
Blessings!
I agree completely with you, Elizabeth! Goal setting, especially when you write them down, can really make a difference in productivity! Keeping our eyes on Jesus can really make a difference in our spiritual lives too. I'm planning on succeeding this year! 😊
