How many of you been to another country?
Hey GEM girls! I live a little country south of Mexico called Belize. My family are missionaries, so I go to an online school that is based out of Michigan. My class was taking a trip to Washington DC and they really wanted me to go with them. It just so happens that Belize is a long ways away from Michigan and so I would have to fly that long trip by myself. To be honest, I didn’t really want to go, but ever since I was little I asked God to give me a love for people and to use every opportunity I had to reach others for Him. So, before I went, I told God I would go if their was someone who would be heaven because of me going on the trip. God made it very clear to me that he wanted me to go, so I went.
When I was in DC, our group played basketball every night and one night, while we were all playing, I had to use the bathroom. As I entered the bathroom, there was a Hispanic lady cleaning, so I greeted her in Spanish. We started talking and she couldn’t believe that I could speak Spanish since I’m an American, so I told her that I have lived my whole life outside of the USA. As the conversation progressed, she told me that her husband had died a year earlier and she had to kids that she was trying to raise. She is a Christian and she told me that she is teaching her kids to have a relationship with Jesus so that one day they will be able to see their dad again. The part that touched me the most was that she was praying every day that God would send someone to encourage her and that morning, in my worship, I prayed that God would use me to share Christ with someone who needed it. God put the both of us in that place at that very time so that we could both be blessed.
Many times we think that we have to be someone great to be a blessing, but there are people right near us that need a helpful hand, a smile, or a hug. This story just brings home what God can do through us if we let him. My challenge to you today is pray that God will put someone in your path who needs love or a kind word, and then look for those opportunities.
Check out some of these verses:
"And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone." Mark 16:15
"...You must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it." 1 Peter 3:15
"Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit." Matthew 28:19
"The Holy Spirit will give you the words to say at the moment when you need them." Luke 12:12
Have you ever shared Jesus with someone? I'd love to hear the story down in the comments! 💕😊
