Chapters of Our Lives

Have you ever wished things could just stay the same and not change?

Hey GEM Girls! I know I have wished that at some point in my life. Today I want to talk about something that I think we all struggle with on a subconscious level and that is accepting the constant changes in our lives. Personally, I absolutely hate change. I like to stay in one place and let my roots grow deep. I guess you could say I'm a "homebody". Some people think change is exiting, but there are still things that we all depend on to stay the same. When those things change we start to feel anxious and unsettled. But I want to let you all in on a little secret that has really helped me become more flexible and adaptable to change.

First, I was to tell you a little bit of my story. A little bit over a year ago I had just finished my first year of college as a junior in high school. I was aiming to have my AS degree by the time I graduated high school. But in the fall of 2022 as I was preparing to go back to college I heard about an academy called Castle Valley Academy in Utah. I really had no reason to even consider going back to high school for my senior year but I felt that God was calling me to go there. I applied and was accepted and that is where I met Melody and became part of GEM girls! The transition to living away from home was really hard for me and there were many times I felt like giving up and going home but I remembered that God had called me there. I grew a lot while I was there and even changed the course of my career path. I just recently graduated from Castle Valley Academy and I am now home again. I have learned a big lesson from how God had guided in my life this past year and that is that every chapter in life is beautiful when God is the one writing your story.

Sometimes it's hard to trust God when we feel like our lives are being torn apart. The unknown can be very scary but if we make God our rock and trust Him we have absolutely nothing to fear. Girls, wherever you are right now in your lives just remember that God is actively involved in every detail of your lives. You don't have to stress about your career, school, or who you are going to marry, because God already has all of that planned out for you. Don't be afraid to turn the page, leave your comfort zone and everything that feels normal. Remember Joseph and Esther? God used them in a far away land under stressful and less than ideal circumstances. He wants to use you the same way, if you'll just let Him.

"'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'" Jeremiah 29:11
